Northern Virginia

About Us

WE EMPOWER VOLUNTEERS TO

Identify and meet needs in their communities

Strengthen and broaden their talents and skills

Make a difference in people’s lives

Enjoy fulfilling friendships based on the spirit of giving

Assistance League of Northern Virginia is an all‑volunteer, nonprofit organization and one of close to 100 chapters that comprise National Assistance League. While all chapters share a commitment to strengthening communities, each one identifies and responds to the specific needs of its local area.

For more than twenty years, Assistance League of Northern Virginia has supported children and families by providing essential resources that promote well-being and academic success.  Rather than focus on a single issue, we address the needs of the whole child by supplying food, clothing, toiletries, books and tutoring, as well as Hugs bedtime bundles for kindergarteners.  We work in close collaboration with nine Title I elementary schools serving students in low-income families across the region.  Hear our story to learn more about our impact in the video here.

MISSION

Meeting the basic needs of children in low-income schools we serve.
