Food Programs
Nobody should be hungry in our community.
Every Assistance League chapter runs a hunger program of some kind. From backpack meals to pantry partnerships to holiday food drives, our volunteers are working to make sure no neighbor goes without.
Hunger is the single most common need our chapters confront. It is also the most solvable. Every meal, every pantry shelf restocked, and every backpack of food sent home with a child on Friday makes a measurable difference.
Hunger Program Examples
Weekend Backpack Programs
Children who rely on school meals often face food insecurity over weekends. Chapter volunteers pack and distribute bags of food to send home each Friday, helping students return to school ready to learn.
Food Pantry Partnerships
Chapters supply, stock, and staff partner food pantries serving working families, seniors, and neighbors facing difficult circumstances.
Holiday Meal Programs
From Thanksgiving to December holidays and beyond, chapter volunteers prepare and distribute meals that bring nourishment and connection to thousands of neighbors each year.
School Meal Support
Chapters work with school nutrition staff and community partners to fill gaps and provide additional support for children who need a little extra.
Every meal shared is a reminder that communities are stronger when neighbors care for one another.
