Since 1988, Assistance League Norman members have provided comfort bears to children in our community who are experiencing crisis or trauma.
Through partnerships with local agencies, including Bethesda, Mary Abbott House, and EMSTAT, these bears are placed directly into the arms of children facing difficult and often frightening situations.
This simple gesture offers reassurance, comfort, and a sense of security when it is needed most.
Assistance League Norman’s Bears for Children program recently donated 50 comfort bears to Norman Regional EMSSTAT to help provide reassurance to children experiencing medical emergencies or traumatic situations. Since 1988, the program has placed comfort bears in the hands of children facing crisis, offering a small source of calm during difficult moments.
During moments of fear or uncertainty, a teddy bear can provide comfort, reassurance and a sense of security for a child experiencing trauma or crisis.
Bears for Children helps support children facing difficult situations by providing teddy bears through local emergency responders and community partners. While small in size, these gestures of compassion can help calm anxiety and offer emotional comfort when children need it most.
