Our members love volunteering at Operation School Bell events where students shop for the clothes and essentials they choose themselves. We cover the cost—and the best part is seeing the smiles that follow.

Operation School Bell has been serving children in our community since the Assistance League of Huntington Beach chapter launched the program in 1975. Each year, the need continues to grow, and through valued partnerships with Target and Walmart stores in Huntington Beach and Westminster, we are able to provide students with a wide selection of clothing, shoes, and essential hygiene items.

To make the experience convenient and accessible for families, shopping events are held in the late afternoons/evenings so working parents can attend, and students do not need to miss school. Families arrive with a voucher provided through their school, and each child has the opportunity to personally select brand-new school clothes, shoes, and hygiene supplies in styles and sizes that fit their individual needs.

More than just providing necessities, Operation School Bell helps children experience the confidence and excitement that come with starting the school year feeling prepared and proud. We believe that boosting a child’s self-esteem through new clothing and supplies can positively impact both their academic success and overall well-being.
