Assistance League of Huntington Beach values our Assisteens, an auxiliary program for students in grades 7–12. Established in 2006 with the support of dedicated volunteers and mentors, Assisteens provides teens with meaningful opportunities to develop leadership skills, serve their community, and foster a lifelong passion for philanthropy.
Young Hearts. Big Impact.
Our Assisteens support important community programs including the Waymakers Youth Shelter and single-parent students in the CARE Program at Golden West College. Through dedicated initiatives such as Birthday in an Envelope, Holiday Stockings, and the Oakview Care Fair, they deliver more than just gifts — they bring joy, connection, and hands-on support to those in need.
Students also volunteer in our Thrift Shop and participate in a variety of service opportunities throughout the community. Each year, Assisteens members collectively contribute more than 1,000 volunteer hours in support of our chapter’s philanthropic programs and activities, with summer and school breaks providing additional opportunities for involvement.
Through hands-on experience in retail operations, teamwork, and leadership, Assisteens members gain valuable business and interpersonal skills that help prepare them for future academic and career success while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
