Tools for Learning

Links to Learning provides awards to New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender county elementary school educators to enhance curriculum and stimulate creative thought in a variety of settings. These awards will enable educators to enrich classroom and extracurricular activities and develop new approaches to learning.

The Links to Learning program awarded $127,746 in grants to 198 educators during the 2025–2026 cycle. Since its inception, the program has offered educators the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $1,000 to enhance classroom curriculum and provide meaningful learning experiences for students. 
This year’s grant cycle was highly competitive, with 157 applications submitted by educators from 33 schools, reflecting a 76.4% increase in applications and a 94.1% increase in educator participation compared to the prior year. Requests spanned innovative instructional approaches, technology, books and classroom behavioral support, underscoring both growing trust in the program and increasing classroom needs. 
Grant Awards by County: 
  • New Hanover County: 75 grants awarded to 18 schools, totaling $65,616 
  • Brunswick County: 35 grants awarded to 7 schools, totaling $29,196 
  • Pender County: 39 grants awarded to 8 schools, totaling $32,934
