Assistance League of Greater Portland’s newest program, Community Needs, began in June 2024 with three focus areas:
Domestic Violence Survivor Support
Assistance League partners with Victims Assistance Offices of the District Attorneys’ offices in Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington counties, and the Beaverton Police Department. Domestic Violence Survivor Support provides contract-free cell phones, minute cards, Tri-Met and ride-share gift cards, and U-Haul gift certificates to meet the needs of domestic abuse survivors.
Unhoused Support
Assistance League collaborates with homeless service providers to offer gift cards for street outreach and warm clothing for those accessing shelters, equipment and supplies to support shelter operations, and new home kits for people transitioning into housing.
Emergency Needs
Assistance League is responsive to emergency community situations. Recently, the chapter provided WinCo gift cards to the Beaverton Police to distribute to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients whose benefits had been rescinded.
