Linda discovered Assistance League years ago when she began to consign some of her large jewelry collection and  joined in 2019. “The longer I am involved with the League the more impressed I am with such a hard working and congenial group, whose efforts do everything to improve the lives of so many in our community”.

Kathy Park, VP RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Kathy Park, VP RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

Kathy was born in Chicago and reared in Southern California.   She and her twin are the eldest of 8 children.    They had the makings of their own party whenever they were together!

After graduating from the University of California, Riverside, Kathy secured an MA in Urban Institutions and Systems Analysis from Claremont Graduate University.   She has held positions in local California government.  After marrying and moving to Oregon, she spent 10 years at AT&T, as the Public Affairs and Public Relations Manager in Oregon.

Shortly after leaving the corporate world, she found her calling as a Fundraiser for non-profits.    While she held positions as the Director of Development at the Opera, Shriners Hospital in Portland and the first VP for Fundraising for the Evergreen Aviation Museum, much of her career was in institutions of higher education.   At the end of her career, she was VP for Advancement at Dominican University in California.

After 30 years of fundraising, she retired in 2022.

Her experience with the Assistance League was successfully consigning jewelry and furniture items over many years; the interaction with the members who worked in Consignment made her feel very welcome.     Upon learning about the mission of the organization, and the programs which ALGP supports, it wasn’t hard to identify that this is where she wanted to allocate some of her retirement time.  She felt she had “found her tribe”. Kathy became a member in 2023.

St. Helen exploded, and has been trying to keep things functioning ever since.  After 36 years at Intel, he continued efforts with local nonprofits including leading the Columbia Land Trust’s initial reaccreditation process, fixing cherished items brought to Washington County ‘Repair Fairs’, and making toys for the Guild of Oregon Woodworkers.  He also continues to mentor entrepreneurs through technical and business challenges.  Peter joined ALGP as an obvious extension of his support for education and community efforts.  He is looking forward to helping our Members, partners, and customers all feel secure, comfortable, and productive while visiting our Beaverton chapter house.

Bill Stevens. TREASURER

He earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and started his career as an R&D engineer at Hewlett-Packard. Along the way, he completed a master’s at Stanford University and later an MBA from Harvard Business School.

After working as a product manager in Hewlett-Packard’s minicomputer division, Bill and his wife, Carolyn, moved to Portland to raise their family. He joined Intel as a product marketing manager, and his career there evolved into roles in market development and venture investing with Intel Capital.

Along the way, Bill co-founded a financial planning software company, became active in angel investing, and taught finance at George Fox University. Carolyn is also involved with ALGP through Consignment.

He is looking forward to helping ALGP continue their fabulous work in the community.

Jan Reginer, VP MEMBERSHIP

Jan was born and raised in a small town in southwest Minnesota. After graduating from college and marrying her high school sweetheart, they moved to Portland in 1980.

In her first five years in Portland, she was a secretary at Neveh Shalom Synagogue. When their son and daughter were in elementary school, she started her volunteer career in the classroom, office, library and was Volunteer Coordinator at Westview High School. She also volunteered for THPRD and was the Jenkins’ Estate Advisory Committee President for ten years.

In 2006 she worked at the Beaverton School District office which led her to be the liaison between Assistance League of Greater Portland’s Operation School Bell program and the district. She said it was a highlight of her job to work with Assistance League volunteers and attend fundraisers. After retirement, she became an Assistance League member in 2022 – she did tell AL friends she’d be back!

In 2015 until February 2020, she volunteered for Bloom Project which was an organization that used unsold donated flowers and repurposed them into beautiful bouquets for hospice patients. During this same time, she volunteered at Homeplate at a drop-in location that served youth experiencing unstable housing and provided a meal, shower, clothes, supplies, homework help, conversation and a safe space.

Jan says, “I have enjoyed volunteering for many years and feel like Assistance League combines all my interests and my desire to stay connected with the community. The bonus is working with so many dedicated and fun people.”

Karen Adams, VP STRATEGIC PLANNING

Karen Adams, VP STRATEGIC PLANNING

Volunteering has always been part of Karen’s DNA. Raised in Pennsylvania, she grew up in a family committed to community service, from four generations of volunteer firefighters to founding local youth programs. Inspired by that legacy, Karen began volunteering at a young age and has since served on numerous nonprofit boards across Oregon and Washington. At Assistance League, Karen found both kindred spirits and a meaningful way to help her community.

After graduating from Thiel College, Karen pursued her desire to see the world by joining the military, a journey that got her as far as Louisiana. There, she began her career as an elementary school teacher and met Bruce, who shared her passion for travel and adventure. The next chapter took them to Dallas, Texas, where Karen transitioned into the corporate world, building a career in Human Resources while continuing her dedication to service through leadership and volunteer roles with the Girl Scouts of the USA. Bruce’s career with Intel Corporation later brought the couple to Oregon, where Karen expanded her expertise into Organizational Development, specializing in management and leadership development at Intel.

Travel remains one of Karen’s greatest passions. She has explored much of the United States — especially the National Parks — and traveled extensively internationally. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, working on jigsaw puzzles, and reading.
