2026 Ada Edwards Laughlin and Community Volunteer Award Winners

At the March 26 Assistance League of North Coast Chapter Meeting, two very special members received awards.  Thea Bell was awarded the Ada Edwards Laughlin award. This award is given to a member chosen by her fellow members who works behind the scenes and is less visible but a helper and friend to all. Our membership has spoken!!! Fran Tovar has been named the ALNC nominee for 2026 North County Philanthropy Council Volunteer of the Year. Fran, as one survey respondent commented, “…is the best of the best!” Fran, ALNC 2026 Anne Banning award winner, presently serves on the Board of Directors as the Education Chair. 2025 Heroes of Oceanside and Camp Pendleton

ALNC was honored by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce as the Non-Profit of the Year as one of the 2025 Heroes of Oceanside and Camp Pendleton at the Seabird Ocean Resort on September 24th. Council members chose our chapter after reviewing our website and were amazed at how many different ways we support children in Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista. Sparkle House Shoe Store

A BIG thank you to Christie and Gloria who led an amazing group of volunteers, which included 7 Assisteens, in distributing tennis shoes at our pop-up “Sparkle House Shoe Store” on Saturday, September. Ninety very happy students, with their parents in tow, were invited from Vista Academy, Grapevine, Bobier and Foothill Oaks to shop for new school shoes, plus 6 pairs of socks and a health kit.
