Qualifying Requirements

Prospective patients, ages 6-29, are welcome to apply to the program and must live in Long Beach, Lakewood or Signal Hill, or attend school in Long Beach. Applicant screening is by appointment. At the screening, the applicant will be examined by a doctor and family financials will be reviewed to confirm program eligibility and determine your monthly payment. In addition to a monthly payment, there will be a one-time start up fee of $120 which covers x-rays and patient models.

Impact

The Orthodontic Program provides high quality affordable orthodontic treatment including braces for kids from families with limited financial resources. The Orthodontic Program’s administration, orthodontist, staff and Assistance League volunteers strive to provide comprehensive, quality orthodontic care in a personal and caring environment. The staff looks forward to helping patients develop great smiles that will last a lifetime.

Meet the Staff

Joshua Schneider, D.D.S., M.S.: Dr. Schneider graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 2006. Prior to dental school, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1988 and his Master’s Degree in Marine Science from University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in 2001. After dental school, he completed 27-month post-graduate orthodontists residency at Loma Linda University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Before taking over the role as full time Orthodontist at Assistance League, Dr. Schneider treated patients at Western Dental in Fontana and at private practices in Ladera Ranch and Hawthorne. He is an active member of the American Board of Orthodontics and Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontics.

Suzie (Registered Dental Assistant): Suzie has been with the orthodontic center since March 2012. She holds her Associate of Arts degree, and maintains her registered dental assistant/x-ray/coronal polish license.

Rachel (Registered Dental Assistant): Passion for orthodontics and creating a welcoming environment for every patient. She joined the office in August 2025 and brings over 12 years of experience to the team.

Marisol (Patient Recruitment and Marketing Coordinator) and has been with Assistance League of Long Beach for 11 years. She actively volunteers with several programs, including ALA Cart at the Children’s Hospital, and the 4th Friday thrift shop shifts.
