Assistance League of Denver meets the needs of school children and their families in eight schools in Denver and Aurora that have high free and reduced lunch rates, strong leadership, and active parental involvement. Each school benefits from the following programs:
Operation School Bell® provides students the opportunity to shop for new clothes at a discounted rate effectively removing barriers by fulfilling their basic needs. On specific Sundays during the fall season, we partner with the JCPenney store in Aurora. JCPenney offers a private shopping experience for students and their families to shop for new school clothing.
Arts for Kids is a charitable program, providing a full day of art experiences for students at our Assistance League of Denver Schools. In collaboration with Community Resources, Inc., we deliver fine arts programs encompassing dance, visual arts, music, and theatrical performances. These hands-on, participatory experiences not only bring joy to students but also enhance their understanding and appreciation of the arts.
Assistance League of Denver also includes tailored support through resources for books, enrichment experiences, supplies, literacy events, health kits, staff appreciation, food insecurity, and parent classes. Our recent focus has shifted from transactional to impact philanthropy, striving for enduring relationships, meaningful change, and family impact by working closely with school staff and parents to provide the supports needed by each individual school.
