About Us

From 1966 To Today

Serving the Greater Riverside Community

Assistance League of Riverside is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to providing programs that address unmet needs for children and young adults in our community.

It was formed more than 59 years ago by 30 civic-minded women as the 37th chapter of Assistance League®. Today the chapter has more than 250 members, men as well as women, who support our philanthropies.

The chapter also includes Assisteens®, an auxiliary of 7th through 12th graders focused on developing a sense of community engagement, self-reliance, personal responsibility, public speaking and leadership.

All of Assistance League of Riverside’s programs focus on children and young adults, from elementary school through college, who have been identified by local schools or other entities as being in need.  Typically, the chapter’s philanthropies touch more than 8,000 children and young adults every year.

A primary source of support for the organization comes from its Thrift Shop which offers great finds at low prices. Generous donations from the community result in a constantly changing inventory.

The chapter’s Annual Giving Campaign during the fall and its Spring Event as well as grants and contributions also support its philanthropies.
