Assistance League of Omaha’s lighthouse philanthropic program Operation School Bell serves over 4,000 students a year. These students are kindergarten through eighth grade from twelve public and parochial school districts representing 223 schools. By partnering with JCPenney, the students shop each fall for school clothing and shoes and the opportunity to pick out a brand new book. Operation School Bell has a positive effect on student self-confidence, attendance, behavior, and peer relations.
Participation in Operation School Bell is the responsibility of the school’s contact. The number is based on the school’s poverty level and student enrollment.
