Donations to Assistance League of El Paso help fund all our programs for women and children.
Assistance League of EL Paso started in January of 1967 when National Assistance League® invited 40 interested women to hear the story of National Assistance League. In March of that year Mrs. Louis Scott hosted a “Sherry Sip” as an orientation for prospective members. On June 15, 1967 an installation luncheon was held and El Paso Assistance Guild was formed. National Assistance League mentor charged the guild to grow from 24 to 50 members, set a major philanthropy project and start fundraising to support the project. In 1970 we became the 50th chapter of National Assistance League. We now have over 100 members, support 7 philanthropic programs, and raise funds with our thrift store, several fundraisers each year and grant writing. For 57 years we have been, as quoted in June of 1969 by the El Paso Times, “the hardest working group of women in town”.
