With our Emergency Clothing program, area schools are stocked with school-appropriate clothing including sweatpants, sweatshirts, tee shirts, gym shorts, socks and underwear.
Students who may have an “accident” at school will now have a change of clothing. They can continue with their instructional day.
Operation School Bell Clothing program provides far more than just a new wardrobe. It allows schoolchildren to fit in better with their peers and empowers them to reach their potential. For some children, this will be the first time they have had a new pair of shoes, a warm coat, or an item of clothing that is not a hand-me-down.
New clothing has the potential to boost self-esteem, encourage school attendance, and improve academic performance.
Literacy is critical to a child’s educational success. Our Reading for Life program gives age-appropriate new books to students in low-income schools to promote literacy and help students to build a home library.
Our Reading for All program provides gently used books to various agencies in our community to encourage literacy at home.
Member volunteers work with students in the classroom to improve their reading and comprehension skills through our Volunteers for Classrooms program.
Through our Vision for the Future program in collaboration with our vision care partners, we provide eye exams and eyeglasses for students in need.
The students benefit from improved academic performance, increased self-esteem and a new view of the world around them.
Assault Survivor Kits® provide clothing and toiletries for survivors of abuse whose clothing may have been retained for evidence.
Items of clothing and toiletries offer dignity to those in need through hospital emergency centers and homeless shelters. Hospital Emergency Necessities are much appreciated by the vulnerable.
The program also offers knitted hats made lovingly by member volunteers through our “Hats of Hope” and are distributed to infants, the unhoused, teens and others in need.
Member volunteers make quilts and comforters for those in need through “Community Crafts.”
Our Eye Can See program offers vision care to adults and seniors who don’t have the means to receive proper vision care.
We also help vulnerable students at the local community college such as former foster children who are in need of vision care.
They are provided with an exam and glasses.
Medical Support Services program addresses the medical and dental needs through local area free clinics.
We supply our local free clinics with glucose monitors and blood pressure cuffs for their clients to help with their at-home care. Our assistance enables these clinics to save lives. We also work with the area free clinics on other vital equipment needed at the clinics, including the local dental clinic at Conejo Free Clinic.
Our Scholarship program is set up to help our local youth graduating from high school continue their education either at a college or trade school if their financial circumstances prevent them from pursuing their dreams.
Furthering their education and training gives them a better chance for success in life.
Our Sharing the Warmth program is designed to help the unhoused in our community. We are dedicated to providing new warm coats, new sleeping bags, and laundry supplies to our community neighbors who find themselves in need. In partnership with our Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Harbor House, a social service agency dedicated to helping those who are most vulnerable, and Gold Coast Veterans Foundation, we provide needed items.
