Authors and Illustrators

Authors and Illustrators

Authors and Illustrators are invited into local schools to share their books and skills with children in the Glendale Unified School District. Books are presented to the school library along with a check for the library to purchase more reading materials. 

This program was launched in 1997. This program visits four elementary schools each year on a rotating schedule. With this long running program, each of the 20 local elementary schools have had 5-6 visits.

Operation School Bell®

Operation School Bell®

Provides clothing, shoes, and personal care items to school children within the Glendale Unified School District.

This program was adopted in 1981. At its inception, only elementary school students were receiving clothes, now in its prime middle school and high school aged children are included.

Scholarships

Scholarships

Every year eight scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from Glendale Unified School District.

Senior Neighborhood Fellowship

Senior Neighborhood Fellowship

This program provides a monthly luncheon and social gathering opportunity for neighborhood residents fifty-five (55) or older. Luncheons are served September through June at our chapter house. Participants play bingo, watch magic shows, and see shows by various local artist.

Vocational Training Program

In a partnership with Tierra del Sol, we help associates learn and practice job skills in our thrift shop.

Welcome Home!

Welcome Home!

When a client moves into permanent housing from a homeless shelter, we provide a laundry basket full of basic home supplies, including pots, dish towels, and serving utensils. 

ALG Cares

ALG Cares

One of our newer programs, adopted in 2024. Provides care kits to unhoused individuals who are starting their journey towards permanent housing through Ascencia.

Thrift Alley Youth Program

Thrift Alley Youth Program

Newly adopted program that provides transitional youth who have transitioned out of foster programs the opportunity to shop at Thrift Alley for heavily discounted clothing and other needs.
