Assistance League of the Chesapeake

Caring Hands • Generous Hearts

For over 25 years, Assistance League of the Chesapeake has been working to improve the lives of in-need children and adults in our community. We do that through community-based philanthropic programs.

We are an all-volunteer organization following these core values that inform and craft our priorities and actions:

        •  Commitment
        •  Leadership
        •  Ethics
        •  Accountability
        •  Respect

Won’t you join us?

Here’s how we make an impact in Anne Arundel County

  • We provided 3,100 uniforms to in-need students at eight local Title I schools.
  • Our members volunteered over 4,500 hours in the community through our programs.
  • We gave 1,142 books to students at two of our partner schools.
  • We have provided over 2,000 weekend food items to students in need of assistance.
  • Our members donated over $4,000 to young mothers through our Showers of Love baby shower.
  • We performed 20 anti-bullying puppet shows to 480 students.
  • We entertained over 600 senior citizens through our sing-alongs.
  • We gave 1,800 greeting cards to senior citizens who might not receive any mail.

Learn more about Assistance League of the Chesapeake:

“Our Kids In Need program takes a village, and our members are responsible for providing school uniforms to thousands of students. Sometimes it’s the only new item of clothing these students will receive all year.”

Maryann Gosnell, Kids In Need Chair

Assistance League is one of the lifelines of our school. They are equivalent to our school being on a game show and being able to phone a very consistent, caring, giving and loving friend.

Andre Dillard, Former Principal, Georgetown East Elementary School

To say that Assistance League of the Chesapeake has been a help to our school system and our children would be an incredible understatement.

Lauren Grey-Hawkins, Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Ensuring that our students are dressed for success greatly impacts our school culture.

Julia Walsh, Principal, Tyler Heights Elementary School
