Volunteer

Are you interested in making a difference in your community?

Would you enjoy forming new friendships with other like-minded volunteers?

Our monthly meeting is on the 4th Wednesday at 10 am.

We volunteer in our Thrift and Consignment Shop.

We help students get new school clothes and shoes in Operation School Bell®.

  • Higher self-esteem

What does membership in Assistance League require?

Members of Assistance League attend monthly meetings and pay annual dues. There is flexibility of choice, allowing members to work in the Thrift & Consignment Shop and/or participate in one or more of the chapter’s nine service programs. New members attend orientation sessions designed to assist them in deciding how they wish to participate in the many volunteer opportunities of the chapter.

Assisteens®

Assisteens® is an auxiliary of Assistance League of Inland North County. This teen group completes numerous activities and projects that are  making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.

The program provides a unique opportunity for students in grades 7-12 to develop a sense of community responsibility, self-reliance, personal responsibility, and leadership skills. At the same time the students are meeting their requirements for community service. With the guidance of Co-Coordinators, the Assisteens run their own meetings guided by parliamentary procedures. Co-Coordinators mentor the teens as they make decisions which affect the lives of those in need.

Some of the projects and activities include:

  • Assembling hygiene kits for Camp Pendleton (Operation School Bell Program), Interfaith Community Services, and other programs in need.
  • Collecting food and adopting families during the holidays for Interfaith Community Services.
  • Working with Growing Minds preschools (Ready, Set, Read! Program) by reading to them, donating school supplies and collecting toys for the holidays.
  • Making seasonal cards for various senior communities.

The group helps Assistance League volunteer staff in a variety of ways including:

  • Working in the Thrift Shop
  • Stuffing bears into bags for the Hug-A-Bear Program
  • Working at the Chapter’s booth at the annual Escondido Street Fair
  • Helping dress children at JCPenney’s or Kohl’s Department Stores for the Operation School Bell Program

Our partners tell us:

“The Assisteens provide a sense of community for Interfaith families by including them in “normalizing” activities such as holiday parties and fun activities.” – Jojo Gozalo, Family Housing Case Manager

  • Membership is open all year for teens in grades 7 through 12. The Assisteens year is from June 1 through May 31.
  • Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7 pm (No meetings in July or August).
  • The annual meeting is held in May which includes awards, Installation of Officers and senior recognition.
