Each week volunteer members bring donuts and serve coffee to the residents of River Oaks and St. Joseph Village adult assisted living centers. Members visit with the residents and entertain them with crossword puzzles.
Operation School Bell is a nationwide philanthropic program of Assistance League which supports children in need.
Our chapter’s Operation School Bell program is targeted towards local, economically disadvantaged youth with the intent of supporting the following areas of need: clothing, hunger, health, supplies and literacy. This support can include school clothing sets for students as well as shoes, backpacks, jackets and personal hygiene items.
We also participate in community efforts to distribute food to students’ families and work with Coppell ISD officials to provide gift cards for essential items for students suffering with homelessness.
Assistance League of Coppell and our Assisteens® have adopted several Little Free Libraries around Coppell. The libraries located in the community gardens will be stocked with adult books and the libraries located at The Duck Pond and Kid Country will be stocked with children’s books. Our volunteers hope these libraries will support literacy and a sense of community for our city.
The SoupMobile is a faith based, non-profit organization which has been feeding the homeless since 2003. Each month, Assistance League of Coppell and our Assisteens volunteer to make sandwiches for the organization
The Youth Today umbrella encompasses programs aimed at teaching children how to make good choices by supporting and encouraging healthy lifestyles and good choices. The programs under Youth Today are Drug Testing Kits, Fatal Vision Goggles and Journeys Mentoring.
Assistance League of Coppell distributes free drug testing kits to concerned parents in Coppell through the middle and high schools or by contacting Assistance League of Coppell via [email protected], at our website Assistance League – Coppell, or through an Assistance League of Coppell member. Tests are designed to be used by parents at home. Please note that your information is not stored and will not be shared with anyone.
Fatal Vision goggles are specially designed and manufactured to simulate the visual impairment caused by alcohol or other drugs. The principle underlying the Fatal Vision Program is to demonstrate how quickly impairment can turn fun into devastating consequences. The school resource officer provides lined floor mats to walk on while wearing the glasses simulating the difficulties of walking a straight line, driving on a curved road and walking up steps.
Initiated in spring 2002, Journeys is a mentoring program for select elementary and middle school children within Coppell ISD. The counselors at each school identify students which they believe could benefit from our mentoring services, and with the parents’ permission, our volunteers meet with the students on a weekly basis. Our mentors help the students with their studies, help them make the right choices or are simply dependably there for the student in whatever way is needed.
Assistance League of Coppell is proud to offer $1,000 scholarships to three graduating seniors who have given of their time and talents to improve their community. The applications for the 2025-2026 school year will be available early 2026 and due by March 31, 2026.
