Providing books to children who may never have owned one of their own remains central to Assistance League Sacramento’s dedication to literacy. Each year, the chapter distributes over 15,000 books to 38 elementary schools throughout the community. Additional books are donated to school libraries to help children understand the value of uniqueness, belonging, and respect for one another’s differences. Volunteer teams known as Book Buddies are also sent into elementary schools to support students as they learn to read. Together, these efforts reflect the chapter’s ongoing investment in literacy and the children it serves.
